Q: Which disease is known to be more commonly spread from adults to children?

A. Varicella (chickenpox)
B. Pertussis (whooping cough)
C. Measles
D. Rubella

The correct answer is B. Pertussis (whooping cough)
Typically, children spread infections to adults; however, pertussis (whooping cough) is more commonly spread from adults to children. Pertussis is particularly dangerous for newborns before they can be vaccinated. For this reason, pregnant people are recommended to get the Tdap vaccine during weeks 27 through 36 of pregnancy, so the baby will benefit from maternal antibodies before they receive their own vaccines.
