The University of the Sciences

Students in “BS415: Moderns Issues in Vaccinology,” a new, upper-level course offered to students at University of the Sciences, had the opportunity to screen the documentary “Hilleman: The Story of Saving 8 Million Lives a Year.” Students read Paul Offit’s biography of Maurice Hilleman ‘Vaccinated’ over the course of the semester and investigated the history, immunological rationale, and societal impact of Dr. Hilleman’s ~30 vaccines. The documentary was the “cherry” on top of a great semester, as students watched it on the last day of class and were able to associate what they had studied in class to interviews of the man himself.
